Earth Ball:
An earth ball, also called a cage ball, is a large inflatable ball most often seen in junior-high-school locker rooms and used as an exercise aid when weather does not permit outside play. Since 2005, Mr. Greenman has been writing in the voice of an earth ball to comment on the current political scene, and particularly the radio and television programs of the conservative commentator Sean Hannity.
